BIO/STATEMENT:
Olivier Liégent’s work is influenced by the hybridized world culture of globalization. He is a painter, sculptor, photographer and comic book artist. His work combines techniques, objects and materials such as aluminum or steel plates, body paint, acrylic on canvas, furniture, PVC cut, glue, wood, blood, hair, dust. His installations present forms which have been generated by software and can be put in relationship to contemporary music. He combines abstraction and figuration with a decorative accent, through use of the language of consumer society.
The similarities of Liégent’s work with the graphic design aesthetics is influenced by his professional experience as artistic director of RSCG, where he contributed as a graphic designer and photographer. His use of color is saturated by fluorescents, glitter, metallics and body paint.
Olivier Liegent has presented his work in various galleries in Berlin, Milan and Paris, such as Gallery Messine Nicolas Plescoff and Gallery Incognito. He has participated several times in China International Industry Fair, and exhibited in Basel.
