Program Description:

Invererne is a home in the Scottish Highlands where artists take part in creative residencies, living together, close to nature.

On our previous residencies we have invited artists from a single discipline to develop a pre-existing idea. This summer we want to try something new. We’re opening our doors to artists working across all disciplines and instead of asking you to apply with a project in mind, we invite you to join a shared exploration of the theme: CREATIVE EXCHANGE & PROCESS.

What might you find from dedicating a week to collaborative exchange with artists from diverse disciplines?

We’re excited about treating this upcoming residency as a laboratory to experiment with fresh ways of working – exchanging practice and trying out different creative processes. We are also keen to give artists the time and space to see their work afresh, starting without expectations in a new space.

This is a call for applications from artists working across disciplines: writers, performers, visual artists, film makers, musicians – all makers welcome!

This residency will share the same ethos and ‘core ingredients’ as our previous ones, though will follow a more flexible schedule – as we would like this to be informed by the participants. Have a browse round on our website and see if it’s something for you.

- Dates & Fee:

The residency will run from Saturday 15th – Saturday 22nd of July, 2017

Fee per participant: £250
This covers being picked up & dropped off in Edinburgh (where the retreat starts), food, accommodation and transport during the week for trips to the sea and forests.
We require payment in full before the residency, as a lump sum or in instalments.

- Access:

We are keen for Invererne to be as inclusive as possible, however, unfortunately we cannot accommodate wheelchair users as the building does not yet have step-free access and there will be several outdoor walking excursions over the week. If you are interested in taking part and have a disability which you think may affect your time at Invererne do get in touch.

- Applications:

Applications are open till 5pm on Monday 13 March, 2017

To receive a copy of the application form or for any queries please email Cara & Hugh at Applicant places will be announced in late April.

* A final note, if travelling from within the UK to Edinburgh for the residency we would strongly prefer participants to use overland methods of transport. See our website’s Ethics & Environment page for more details.
