In January 2018, a new chapter will open at Arts Letters & Numbers, a new programming series entitled ‘Sessions’. Occurring at least once a month, each Session will take place over 5 to 10 days, offering a small group of participants the chance to live and work together, delving deeply into a particular topic, theme or question, Facilitated by a Session Coordinator(s) and Arts Letters & Numbers Resident Staff & Fellows, the intent of the program is to create an immersive space of inquiry and action, a place for deep questioning, thinking and making.
In this workshop we will immerse ourselves in the creative process of making music. During our week together we will find new ways to unleash our creative potential, and to discover and develop our individual voices as creative artists. This workshop is open to both amateur and professional musicians in any genre (the ability to read music is not required). Michael will customize the workshop on an ongoing basis to address the needs and wishes of each and every participant. Time will be divided between individual and group activities as needed. Tilted Arc (pianist Sophia Vastek, and electroacoustic composer/saxophonist Sam Torres) will also be on faculty to coach and perform participant’s works for any combination of piano, sax and electronics. Guest faculty include composer/sound artist Nina Young and composer/percussionist Payton MacDonald.
