Program Description:

Artists on Farms is a regional partnership between a cohort of farmers and Gallery One Visual Arts Center located in rural Ellensburg, WA. This year’s partner farm is Green Bow Farms. Through an online call, Gallery One will connect artists from around the country to this local farm located in the heart of rural Washington to create temporary residencies. Each farmer will determine dates available, lodging and work available/artist need. Artists may have the opportunity to share their skills and availability. The process will be modeled after “WWOOF”, a worldwide movement linking volunteers with organic farmers and growers to promote cultural and educational experiences based on trust and non-monetary exchange, thereby helping to build a sustainable, global community.

The purposes of Artists on Farms are to share with the rural community the benefits of the arts, increase awareness of local farming by creating a direct dialogue between artists and farmers, and share with the greater community (non-artists and farmers) the value of both.
