Dear Friends,
We are excited to announce the creation of Residency Unlimited, a not-for-profit organization that fosters artist residency initiatives through the principle of collaboration. By teaming up with other organizations in New York and beyond, we bring our resources together and maximize the success of each residency experience. While we place artists and their creative process at the core of our mission, Residency Unlimited offers a de-centralized model that re-evaluates the notion and purpose of artist residencies today.
We were recently invited to present Residency Unlimited at the “Re-Tooling Residencies” conference organized by the Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle (Warsaw) and ResArtis. The feedback we received was extremely positive.
Residency Unlimited was launched in June 2009. Backed by our Team and our Board, several partnerships and exciting projects are underway. We hope you’ll take a look at our activities below.
As we explore one of the most vital components of art production and critical practice — the artist residency — we hope this will inspire you to Get Involved. Your proceeds will contribute to Residency Unlimited’s mission of supporting artists in residency.

CURRENT INITIATIVES
RU / Flux Factory
We are developing an international dimension to Flux Factory’s studio program in its new building in Queens. Stefan Brandstifter, our first artist in residency, arrived on July 1st from Germany for a six-month stay with support from Schloss Balmoral, Stiftung Rheinland Pfalz für Kultur. On December 11th, his show opens at the Stephan Stoyanov gallery on Orchard street.
RU / More Art
Our partnership with More Art begins next spring with the arrival of Singapore-based artist Ana Prvacki for a 10 week residency. More Art’s mandate is to develop public art initiatives with local communities.
RU/Artist Pension Trust® (APT)
RU is supporting APT in the development of it’s newest initiative, APT Studios.
KIOSK
KIOSK is Residency Unlimited’s online springboard for dialogue and information on the evolving field of artist residency. We post opportunities and calls on a weekly basis, and we invite you to share your experiences and critical thinking on the topic as artist, curator and other.
KIOSK also serves local artists who are keen to go abroad on residency. We are available via Instant Messaging Chat Protocol to answer any residency-related
inquiries.
We look forward to your comments. Thank you.
Residency Unlimited Inc. was incorporated in June 2009, as not-for-profit corporation under the laws of the State of New York and is applying to be recognized as a not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the United States tax code.
