RU creates customized residency formats to support the creation, presentation and dissemination of contemporary art by local and international artists and curators through strategic partnerships with collaborating institutions. Moving beyond the traditional centralized studio model, RU is particularly dedicated to promoting multidisciplinary practices and committed to building lasting connections between residents and the broader arts community. Operating across multiple platforms locally and globally, RU offers tailored support and services to residents that include production and technical assistance, exhibition opportunities, on-line resources, public education and artist-centered programs.

Incorporated in June 2009, Residency Unlimited was approved in October 2011 as an official 501 (c)(3) nonprofit tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the United States tax code.
